Nice piece. I've been to 15+ countries in Africa and you can have hotels as expensive as you'll have anyhwere in the US or accomodation as dirt cheap, it all depends on what you want. I also thought to mention that in almost every country capital on the continent, there are now lots of AirBNB options. Good tip on eating local. I can tell you that the jollof rice in hotels in Ghana and Nigeria can't compare to the street version, cooked on charcoal fired pots in local restaurants
